Leather
Leather is a material as natural as our own skin. It is capable of absorbing body
moisture and at the same time forms a barrier against the penetration of excessive
moisture from the outside. Leather is supple, elastic, true-to-shape, tough, wear
resistant and warm to the touch. It provides active breathing properties, has a good
gripping surface and adds a touch of elegance.
It is only with the tanning process that leather becomes durable, tough and yet supple.
Tanning agents transform animal hides into resistant leather while retaining the fibre
structure of the original skin. The graining on the hair side of the skin lends the
leather its unique surface structure after the tanning process. The refinement of the
pores determines whether the finished leather is coarse or fine-grained.
